Driving Directions from the Visitor Center:
This is a bit of a tricky one to find, but well worth the effort. And you’ll be driving, not riding the shuttle!
· Start at the Zion Visitor Center: Head east on the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway (State Route 9).
· Continue on Route 9: Follow the road as it winds through the park, and drive through the tunnel.
· Look for Keyhole Canyon: The gnarled pine tree is located between Keyhole Canyon and Checkerboard Mesa. There will be unmarked roadside parking just beyond a hairpin curve. If you reach Checkerboard Mesa, you’ve gone too far!
- After you’ve parked, walk up the road until you see the pine, and then it’s a quick walk up to it.
